The Establishment of Kullyspell House near Hope

In 1809, explorer and fur trader David Thompson established Kullyspell House on the Hope Peninsula, near present-day Hope, Idaho. This trading post, built with the assistance of Finan McDonald, was among the first white settlements in the area. The construction of Kullyspell House marked the beginning of significant interactions between European traders and the indigenous populations, setting the stage for the cultural and economic transformations that would follow in northern Idaho.
