In Idaho, general elections for cities are held in odd-numbered years. The next City of Kootenai general election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. You must be a resident within the city limits to run for City Council. There will be two (2) City Council seats up for election in 2025, currently held by Joseph Rafferty and David Sundquist. This City of Kootenai Elections page will be updated with links to forms and information for those who wish to run for City Council, including the candidate filing timeframe, which will be a two-week window that opens in mid/late August. If you plan to run, please be sure to visit the Idaho Secretary of State’s campaign finance site ASAP: https://voteidaho.gov/campaign-finance-portal/ This is particularly important if you plan to campaign prior to filing your official candidate declaration; there are campaign finance forms that you may need to complete and file prior to campaigning.
